In year 1967 Government of India has enlisted five Castes i.e., Tharu, Buksa, Bhotiya, Jaunsari and Raji under Tribal category.
In year 2003 Government of India included other few castes under Tribal category. On the basis of above inclusions,
the population of Scheduled Tribes as per Census 2011 is 1134273.
